Situated in the lush, northern suburb of Athlone in Pietermaritzburg, our Bed & Breakfast is ideally located close to a number of private schools, shopping malls and hospitals. We are ten minutes from the CBD and Hilton and twenty minutes from Midmar Dam and the start of the Midlands Meander.

Our gorgeous rooms are tastefully furnished with lovely cottage pieces and comfy beds, duvets and throws. Our "West Wing" is well appointed with a private entrance, garden and veranda. It is our largest room which consist of a double bedroom (king size bed or twin singles) with modern en suite bathroom with bath/shower combination. This room has a ‘nook’ with kitchenette with facilities including a sink, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster and roaster. It allows guests to prepare light or pre-prepared meals. This room can accommodate families with 2 young children under 6. In order to do this, the granite islands in the ‘nook’ are moved to make room for the children’s mattresses. The fridge, microwave and tea station are moved into the main room. The room has a flat screen TV with SABC channels and a limited DSTV option – folk can bring their own DSTV card. The room has access to good WIFI.

Our second room, “The French Room” is situated at the top of our property above our "Snug Rom”. It is a smaller room but its position and lovely wooden deck make it a popular room for couples. Older children can be accommodated in “The Snug” below. The “French Room” can be set up with a king bed or twin single beds. It has a lovely, en suite with shower. Other facilities include a tea station, small fridge and microwave. The room has a TV and access to good Wi-Fi.

The “Snug Room” is nestled in the garden, separate from the main house and below the “French Room” It is a well-priced room for single folk or single folk sharing as it consists of two single beds on different levels thus offering them more privacy. It has an en suite bathroom with shower as well as a small kitchen counter with fridge, microwave and tea station for heating pre-prepared meals. The room has a television with SABC channels and access to good WIFI.

We always endeavour to provide a warm and friendly environment and personalized service for our guests who can relax on the beautiful veranda or lounge at our sparkling 12 meter pool.

For breakfast, we offer our guests a choice between a cooked “English” breakfast and a “Health Breakfast” which includes fruit salad, yoghurt, muesli, bran muffin, boiled egg. A bread basket, juice and tea/coffee are served with our scrumptious breakfasts. A hearty, dinner of ‘home-cooked fair’ can be arranged at an additional cost.

We are happy to accommodate children and have lovely facilities such as trampoline, swings and jungle-gym for them to enjoy - they also seem to find great pleasure just exploring the winding paths and interesting creatures in our garden.

Our city is fondly called "Sleepy Hollow" but we do actually have some wonderful places for tourists to visit which include our beautiful Botanical Gardens, Tala Game Reserve, African Birds of Prey Albert and Howick Falls.  If you are looking for an exciting adventure, KarKloof Canopy Tours is definitely an option. We personally recommend exploring the Midlands Meander where one can buy up-market art and crafts as well as enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants along the route. Piggly Wiggly is a good place to start one’s meander .Pietermaritzburg is also only forty-five minutes from Durban and the sea and one and a half hours from the incredible Drakensberg Mountains.
